Tiarn's beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony at Rafferty's Resort

We have had quite a few enquiries lately for Bridal Ceremonies and in particular, arches.  We thought we would share with you the gorgeous Tiarn's outdoor wedding ceremony and reception which was hosted at the heavenly Rafferty's resort last September.

With a tranquil backdrop featuring Lake Macquarie, the bride and groom really did not need much else!  To frame their vows, they chose to have our bridal arch, draped with delicate chiffon, white carpet, and our white folding chairs.

Red rose petals completed the picture!

Gemma's alluring vintage wedding in the Concert Hall, Newcastle City Hall

Gemma hosted her alluring vintage inspired wedding in the Concert Hall at Newcastle City Hall.  We adored how she chose to express her individuality by arranging the tables in a Banquet format.  This afforded ample room for Gemma’s florist to arrange the collection of vintage vases, romantic flowers & tea lights on the burlap table runners, along the tables, also allowing play for the cutlery, glassware and place cards .

Having hand-picked floral centrepieces, made perfect the enduring theme.  Gemma also chose to make a feature of the ceiling having it draped with chiffon and fairy lights.

Chris and Sophie's Beautiful wedding in the Concert Hall, Newcastle City Hall

We are thrilled to be able to share with you a short video from the wedding reception of Chris and Sophie, at Newcastle City Hall in November.  The happy bride and groom choose our impressive crystal candelabra’s for the centrepieces, taking advantage of the height and the grandeur of the Concert Hall.

The Flower Palace arranged the gorgeous flowers to be placed in the bowls of the candelabras.  Our fairy lights draped from balcony to balcony completed the magical effect.

Jodi and Sung's wedding ceremony at Peterson's Champagne House Pokolbin

Another stunning day at Peterson’s Champagne House in October for Jodi and Sung’s wedding ceremony on the lawn, followed by the reception inside the venue.  Jodi chose our white folding chairs,  shepherd’s hooks, and flowers in hanging vintage bottles by Jade McIntosh lining the aisle.

To complement the vintage theme, Jodi chose our white washed black board frame, with a very cute greeting, and vintage bike with flowers

For refreshments on a hot spring day, Jodi also had a lemonade stand constructed out of our wine barrels and recycled wood plank.  We provided the drink dispensers  however the bride and groom provided the refreshments to go inside them.

CJ and Arv's beautiful outdoor reception on the Tamburlaine lawn

It was a stunning October long weekend afternoon.  Rain had threatened during the week, but the day dawned clear and bright for CJ and Arv’s wedding at Tamburlaine Winery in Pokolbin.

Hosting a combination of Hindu and Sri Lankan Ceremonies on the lawn at Tamburlaine, CJ and Arv looked amazing in their traditional costumes.

Ingrid and Cam - Peterson's Champagne House

We just love a country wedding and Ingrid and Cameron's on the 10th October at Peterson's Champagne House in the Hunter Valley is simply beautiful!

Ingrid hired our black Princess candelabra's, and had fresh flowers arranged around the neck of them.  The black board table numbers added a personal touch.

The white Tiffany chairs completed Ingrid's elegant spin on country style.

Crystal Candelabra's at Bather's Pavilion, Balmoral

Every weekend we are privileged enough to play integral role of bride and groom's wedding day, a duty we take very seriously.  But when we are invited to become involved in a wedding anniversary, it is very special, especially when the beautiful couple have been a married for a remarkable 60 Years!

We were so humbled to be contacted by the family whom were organising the celebrations, which was the perfect occasion to bring all of the generations together at the Bather's Pavilion at Balmoral in December 2013.

Our crystal candelabras, were dressed exquisitely with flowers by Lisa Carnuccio floral designer at The Flower Scene, Roseville Chase, complementing our dusty rose runner and chair sashes perfectly.  The talented daughter-in-law of the couple, Mari Lou, provided the silver printed runner which was placed over the top of our dusty rose runner, and accessorised with our mirrored tea lights perfectly.  The silver motif on dusty rose was repeated on the menu cards, and hand written placecards.

Mel and Greg's stunning wedding at Fort Scratchley

Every so often a wedding comes along that has been so long in the planning, that you cannot believe that it is finally happening!  Mel and Greg's wedding at Fort Scratchley on Friday 1st November, was one such celebration.  We absolutely loved assisting Mel with styling and decorating her wedding.

Mel chose a stunning sophisticated theme of Black, beige, white, crystal and mirrored accents.  Mel chose beige tablecloths with a faint sheen, ruffled beige bridal table skirting, with beige and white chair tie back ruffles, finished with a round diamante buckle on the white Tiffany chairs

Are you planning a beach ceremony - issues brides fail to consider

Azure blue ocean, gently lapping waves, palm trees swaying gently in the breeze, golden sand stretching to the water's edge.  All your guests barefooted on the sand, casually waiting for you and your man to saying your personalised vows under the beautifully draped bamboo arch.   Got the idea?  STOP!

Is it only me, but have you noticed that only picture perfect images of beach ceremonies seem to be promoted on Pinterest?   Tranquil, perfect tropical vistas, with not a frangipani filled breeze in the air, everything arranged beautifully on the beach.  Not a stray blow dried hair in place! Unfortunately, sometimes,  this is not really the reality….

Things you need to consider:

  • Weather: On any average Aussie afternoon, there is normally a breeze on our glorious beaches.  Most beaches offer very little protection.  If you are thinking about having a bamboo arch installed for you to say your vows under, please be mindful that the drapery, not matter how perfectly installed, can act like a sail in the breeze, and wedding and event decorators have to wrap the fabric around the bamboo posts.  You may not get that picture perfect effect that you saw on google.
  • Car Parking: If you are having your ceremony on a popular beach in a Saturday afternoon in summer, have you assessed whether there will be adequate car parking to cope with the regular bathers, plus allowing your guests to arrive in time for your wedding ceremony start time?  Are there stairs for the elderly to negotiate?
  • Distance: Are you thinking of supplying chairs for your guests?  Before Uncle Charlie, says that he has every thing covered and his ute is loaded up and ready to go, please consider how far Uncle Charlie has to carry the chairs over the hot, soft, sand.  It takes a lot longer than you think to to setup the items, we always put double the staff on for beach ceremony.
  • Get some help: You will save yourself a lot of stress if you engage an Wedding Decorator or Event Hire company to setup your ceremony items for you.  However, please be mindful that there may be additional fees to carry the chairs the distance Uncle Charlie offered to do for free.  Also many carpets will not be allowed to be hired if you are placing them on the beach - this is only so you are not given a large fee to remove the sand from the carpet - this is the wedding hire companies saving you some grief - they have learnt the hard way.
  • Privacy: You normally won't have a time restriction as you would in a council park (see previous blog post), but you could be the centre of attention amongst the nippers!
  • Pollution: Some councils have restrictions on scattering rose petals or frangipanis on the sand, it may come under their littering laws.  Also some councils may have noise pollution laws, your celebrant may have to face the PA system away from any nearby residents.  So would be wise to check.
  • Wet weather alternative:  Ahh, the dreaded wet weather alternative… wishful thinking would have us pretending that rain will not appear on your wedding day, but you do need to have a back up plan.  If you are looking for a venue in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley where you can hold your ceremony under cover I have discussed that here.
